Classic Burger with SriMu Gold Alchemy & Special Sauce

Patties

  • 2 cups black beans or adzuki beans
  • 2 cups short grain brown rice
  • 8 cups filtered water
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 small beet
  • 2 tbsp barbeque sauce
  • 1 tbsp flax seeds
  • 2 tbsp arrowroot powder
  • 1 tbsp tamari
  • 1 tsp coconut oil

Toppings

  • Lettuce
  • Tomato, sliced
  • Onion
  • SriMu Gold Alchemy

Special Sauce

  • 3 tbsp Vegenaise
  • 2 tsp Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp chopped pickles
  • 1 tsp red wine vinegar
  • ½ tsp salt

Burger instructions:

  1. Soak the dried beans overnight or bring to a boil, then turn off the heat and let sit for a few hours prior to cooking.
  2. In a large pot, cook the beans and garlic in 3 3/4 cups filtered water over medium heat until soft but not mushy. This could take up to 2 hours. Drain.
  3. In a large sauce pan, mix the rice with 4 1/4 cups water and simmer over medium heat, covered, until the water is gone and the rice is moist. This will take approximately 30 min. Adding the extra 1/4 cup water will produce a stickier rice. This helps the grains bind together more efficiently.
  4. Simultaneously, in a small saucepan, boil the beet in water over high heat until done. This will take 30-40 min. Drain the water and rinse the beet in cold water. Rub the skin off the beet, using your fingers. Then finely chop and set aside 2 tablespoons.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the cooked beans and rice, let it cool. When cooled, use your hands to mix the rice and beans. Squeeze the mixture between your fingers to mash the mixture, helping it to bind.
  6. Add the diced beet, sea salt, pepper, barbecue sauce, flax seeds, arrowroot powder and tamari - and continue mix with your hands.
  7. Rinse and dry your hands. Apply a small amount of coconut oil to your hands and start to form the patties.
  8. Form the mixture into 4-6 patties (depending on your bun size).
  9. Chill the patties in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes. This helps the flavors to combine and the patties to firm up.
  10. Heat 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  11. Cook the patties for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  12. To assemble the burgers, top each patty with lettuce, tomato, onion, special sauce, and SriMu Gold Alchemy. Serve with the special sauce on the side.

Special sauce instructions:

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a small bowl and whisk until smooth.

 Enjoy!
